The rescheduled 2020 Cycling Australia Masters Road National Championships has been confirmed, with Australia’s best masters cyclists now set to battle for the coveted green and gold national champion jerseys on the Gold Coast from 9-12 December, 2020.
The Championships will begin on Wednesday 9 December with a 20-kilometre time trial in the Tallebudgera Valley, followed by the criterium on the purpose built course at Runaway Bay (Luke Harrop Circuit) on Thursday.
The Road Races will be hosted in Guanaba on Friday and Saturday with the high-octane eight kilometre road race circuit featuring short laps and stabby hill climbs.
The Masters Championships attracts the second largest field of all Cycling Australia National Championship events behind January’s Federation University RoadNats.
“We extend our genuine appreciation to the Gold Coast for hosting the Championships,” said Cycling Australia CEO Steve Drake. “We look forward to an exciting three days of racing in the time trial, road race and criterium events.”
Course locations and maps, plus entry information, will be released next week.
Will the event go forward if some states/territories cannot participate? Yes we will seek to continue to conduct the Championships even if some states are unable to participate due to government restrictions.
What are your COVID-19 plans? Cycling Australia and NX Sports are working closely with the Queensland government to exceed all of the COVID-19 Safe Event requirements. These will be specifically outlined.
If I can’t attend due to COVID-19 border restriction changes? In this case your entry will be fully refundable.
What if the event is cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions? In this case we will refund all entries.
Will the event be conducted as a Cycling Australia or AusCycling Championships? It will be conducted as an AusCycling Championships.
Will I require an AusCycling Membership? You will be able to race on either an AusCycling Membership or a Cycling Australia membership that is valid until 12 December 2020.
