If you’re new to bike racing, your local cycling club is the place to start. Many clubs host weekly racing on road, track or both.

Once you’ve had a taste of club racing, you’re going to want more. That’s when it’s time to challenge yourself to a State Open.
State Opens bring together bigger fields of riders from all across NSW, with a large variety of courses and more prizes on offer. For many cyclists, winning a State Open is their major season goal.
As well as the racing itself, a State Open is a great excuse for a weekend away with your clubmates. There are divisions and handicaps to suit all abilities.

In order to race, you’ll need a racing licence with Cycling Australia.
If you’re just dipping your toes into the racing waters, grab a One Week Race licence or 2-Month Race Starter. There’s no commitment if you choose not to keep racing.
