Cycling NSW offers its condolences to the family, friends and clubmates of Peter Ryan, who died during a training ride on Saturday.
Peter, 56, was a member of Marconi Cycling Club and raced with the Avantias Pro Racing and Après Vélo Racing teams.
During a group ride in Quakers Hill on Saturday morning, Peter fell from his bicycle and was hit by a car. He died at the scene.
Peter has been remembered by his friends for his caring nature, his willingness to chat, his love of family and his constant smile.
In recent years, after returning from a break from cycling where he played grade cricket, Peter competed at several Masters national and state championships as well as state opens, including a win at the 2018 Remembrance Cup.
“We are devastated to learn of this tragic news, and our thoughts and best wishes are with Peter’s family and friends,” said Graham Seers, CEO of Cycling NSW. “His death will be an enormous loss to his club, his team and the local cycling community.”
