Women in coaching invited to attend forum in Darwin

Female coaches looking to network and hear from other female coaches are invited to attend the Women in
Coaching Forum hosted by the Northern Territory Institute of Sport (NTIS) on 10 March.

Senior Director Sport and Active Recreation, Dr Ian Ford, said the Territory Government is supportive of growing
women’s sport and providing development opportunities for females involved in sport.

“The Women in Coaching Forum is an opportunity for female coaches from all sporting codes to network and
share their stories,” said Dr Ford.

“Attendees will be able to participate in workshop discussions and hear from guest speaker Heidi Thompson, the
AFLNT Thunder Women’s Academy Manager and 2019 NT Thunder and Under 18 Allies Coach. The forum will
be facilitated by Narelle Gosstray, former Head Coach of the Australian Women’s Baseball team.”

Dr Ford said the Forum is also a valuable opportunity for the NTIS to gather information on key issues to assist
with its role in developing Territory coaches.

“The NTIS aims to strengthen the quality of coaching across the Territory by providing programs and services to
support the development of coaches of all levels,” he said.

The Forum will be held at the Darwin International Tennis Centre from 6pm on 10 March 2020.
