In September, Cycling Queensland headed to Townsville for a fantastic weekend of racing at the Townsville Cup on Wheels and to deliver a Commissaires Workshop, and Motor Pace Accreditations.
Six Commissaires from the regional club attended the workshop that was delivered by Louise Jones.
“It was a great opportunity to catch up with our regional officials, providing them with the latest changes in Cycling Australia’s regulations and also see some great racing at the Cup on Wheels” said Jones.
In addition to the Commissaires Workshop, a Motor Pace Accreditation took place, with the successful certification of Matt Harris as a Motor Pace Assessor.
Townsville Cycling Clubs president Alicia Harris celebrated the progress and highlighted the importance of the process.
“It is great to see that four individuals successfully completed the Motor Pace Accreditation from the Townsville Cycling Club! It will hugely benefit the Club by ensuring a safe environment for which our riders can be placed under the Queensland Government Guidelines” said Harris.
Townsville Cycling Club member Matt Harris was appointed as a Motor Pace Assessor, opening doors and opportunities to Northern Queensland.
“Certifying Matt Harris as a Motor Pace Assessor will open up opportunities in Northern Queensland by providing Cairns and Mackay Cycling Clubs a more accessible option to put members through the course for accreditation” said Jones.
Riders from near and far enjoyed racing on the Townsville Velodrome for what might be the last time, as the Velodrome undertakes a rebuild.
