There are many reasons why people ride bicycles. They ride for fitness, the challenge, the sense of achievement when setting goals, and the pure joy of getting outside.
Cycling is a lot of fun. Riding is great for both your mental and physical health. Once you gain confidence on the bicycle you may want to try racing. Racing comes in so many different forms - road races, criteriums, time trials, track, cyclo-cross, mountain biking and BMX.
The concept of riding may be intimidating. You may be comfortable rolling turns with your mates on the weekend, love to set ‘PBs’ and beating your riding buddies time up your local climb. But when contemplating racing, heaps of questions run through your mind: ‘What equipment will I need?’, ‘How do I enter a race?’ and ‘What actually happens at a race?’.
