SA State hill climb championships are nearly here!

05Jul2019

It’s nearly upon us! The inaugural SA State Hill Climb Championships, to be held up Knotts Hill and Pound Rds at Ashton on July 13th, will decide who is crowned State Hill Climb Champion. The course is steep and short, so we may well see a surprise win from outside the cohort of dedicated climbers floating around Adelaide at the moment!

The race is being presented by the Adelaide University Cycling Club with Cycling SA’s guidance, and as such their club sponsors KOM Coffee will be present at the Ashton Community Memorial Hall slingin’ brews all morning, and club member Angus Dickson is 3D printing up some trophies as prizes in addition to the State Championship medals to be awarded!

With many categories still with only a handful of entries, there are several podium places still up for grabs, and most grades are still wide open as to who’ll take the win!

The voluntary weight categories will include rider, bike, helmet and shoes (not bidons) and riders can choose to jump on the scales at sign on to have their category recorded (actual number of kg will not be recorded, only which category a rider falls into). Once the racing is run, a podium will be awarded to the fastest times in each of the following categories: 65kg and under, 66-80kg, 81-95kg, 96-110kg, and 111kg+.

Entries in Championship grades will close at 11:59PM Monday, July 8th, but Challenge, Singlespeed and Tandem grades can be entered until 11:59PM Thursday, July 11th. Enter via Entryboss link below!
