UNI CYCLE is a social cycling program designed by students, for students. You will explore the local area and learn the best routes to ride, boost your bike maintenance skills, get tips from qualified instructors, and have fun cycling with like-minded people.

UNI CYCLE helps build your cycling confidence through a mix of leisurely paced rides on safe routes, skills exercises, hands-on workshops and relaxed group discussions. So whether you ride to get from A to B, want to keep healthy or explore with friends – UNI CYCLE is for you!

Join UNI CYCLE at your University

The following UNI CYCLE programs are open now for bookings:

 

> AUSTRALIAN CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY  – MELBOURNE CAMPUS

Cycling Victoria is excited to be partnering with ACU Sport to bring UNI CYCLE to the ACU Melbourne Campus this October.

Two UNI CYCLE sessions have been specially designed for ACU students by Cycling Victoria.  These sessions will be delivered at the ACU Melbourne Campus in the Run up to National Ride2Work Day on Wednesday 16 October. 

 

> SESSION 1: LEARN TO RIDE 

This session is designed for people who have never ridden a bike before or haven't ridden for a long time.

It's never too late to learn how to ride a bike! This session is designed to support you to build your bike riding skills and confidence in a safe, no-pressure environment.

Our experienced instructors will help you to develop your balance, steering and controlled braking skills so you feel confident on two wheels. 

The session is capped at 5 participants so the instructors can give everyone the individual support and guidance that they need.  

This session is conducted in a safe off-road environment.

Bikes and helmets provided, or bring your own. 

When: Monday 14 October, 1pm - 3pm

Meeting Point: The Track, ACU Melboune Campus

Cost: Free. Bookings essential. Places are very limited.

> SESSION 2: BUILD YOUR SKILLS 

This session is designed for people who know how to ride but want to build their skills and confidence.

Participants from the Learn to Ride session on Monday 14 October are welcome to attend this session if they successfully complete the Learn to Ride session.  

This session is designed to build your bike riding skills and give you the confidence to ride more.

Our experienced instructors will help build your cycling know-how through a mix of skills exercises, hands-on bike maintenance and a leisurely paced ride that explores the local area.  

The session is capped at 10 participants so the instructors can give everyone the support and guidance that they need. 

This session is conducted in a safe off-road environment and on bike paths and low traffic routes. 

Bikes and helmets provided, or bring your own. 

When: Tuesday 15 October, 1pm - 3pm

Meeting Point: The Track, ACU Melboune Campus

Cost: Free. Bookings essential. Places are very limited.

Do I need to know how to ride a bike to join UNI CYCLE?
UNI CYCLE is aimed at people who can already ride a bike, but are looking to build their skills, knowledge and cycling confidence in a relaxed and friendly environment.

Do I need to have a bike and a helmet to join UNI CYCLE?
Yes, you will need a bike and a helmet to join UNI CYCLE. You can either:

  • Bring your own bike and helmet to each session, or
  • Borrow a bike and helmet from Cycling Victoria (at no additional cost). Just tell us your height (e.g. 168cm) when booking a place on a UNI CYCLE program and we’ll bring the bike and helmet to each session

What do I need to bring to each session?
As well as a bike and helmet, you will also need:

  • Water bottle
  • Bike lights *
  • Comfortable clothes and shoes (e.g. sneakers or trainers)

* If you are borrowing a bike, we will also lend you some bike lights. If you are bringing your own bike, you will need to bring a white bike light for the front and a red bike light for the back. You can buy bike lights from any bike shop or places like Kmart.
